New Assigned Roles Within Rapid Cancer Reporting System (RCRS) Starts This Week

In September 2020, the well-known RQRS and NCDB Call for Data submissions programs were phased out with the release of the Commission on Cancer’s (COC) National Cancer Database (NCDB) new Rapid Cancer Reporting System (RCRS). The RQRS along with NCDB’s Call for Data, were both important tools used for quality improvement and real time reporting in accredited CoC facilities.  The new RCRS became the only program used by accredited CoC hospital cancer registries to submit quality data with new and updated abstracts on a more frequent basis. This new program includes all cancer sites from 2004 and forward and is used to report “real time and historical quality measure performance data.” A total of 11 quality measures are measured with the new RCRS program.

Beginning this week, access to the Rapid Cancer Reporting System (RCRS), within a CoC-accredited program will only be allowed to those who have the role of “Uploader” or “Report Viewer” in their organization listed in the Quality Portal.  Access will be denied to anyone who is not assigned one or both of these roles for any individual in an accredited program.

To ensure all required users are assigned the new roles, the hospital’s primary contact person must go into the Data Platform Contacts section of the Quality Portal, and ensure anyone who is a RCRS user has these new roles assigned to them. If access is needed for an individual, the site’s primary contact may request it through the Data Platform Contacts section of the Quality Portal.
