Charlie Saponaro – President & CEO
Charlie Saponaro is an experienced entrepreneur with a proven track record of both operating and investing in growing companies. Prior to Medical Record Associates, Mr. Saponaro was a key member of the ArchivesOne management team. While at ArchivesOne, Mr. Saponaro was instrumental in growing the business from a regional company to the third largest records management company in the United States before being acquired by Iron Mountain (NYSE: IRM). Before joining ArchivesOne, Mr. Saponaro was a Vice President at Brook Venture Partners, a Boston-based venture capital firm focused on expansion stage companies. Prior to Brook, Mr. Saponaro worked for Saturn Capital, a Boston-based venture capital and private equity firm focused on early stage technology companies. Before Saturn, he worked for Boston Capital, the largest apartment owner in the United States. Mr. Saponaro holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Vermont.
Karen Gallagher Grant, RHIA, CHP – COO
Karen Gallagher Grant has over 25 years of experience in the Health Information services industry and currently serves as Chief Operating Officer for MRA Health Information Services. Prior to joining MRA, Karen worked for Partners HealthCare System, Inc. for 17 years and most recently served as the Corporate Director of Health Information Services/Chief Privacy Officer (CPO). As CPO for Partners, she oversaw activities related to the development, implementation, and maintenance of the privacy program and general HIM. Karen was also responsible for the planning, implementing and managing of inter-entity initiatives and functions in health information services as they related to the Electronic Health Record. She also managed the Coding Services for Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Karen managed the Enterprise Master Patient Index to ensure data integrity of patient identity for over 5 million patients. She has served on AHIMA’s Council on Certification, Certification of Health Privacy Task Force and participated on numerous national, as well as local, work groups. Karen is currently serving on the AHIMA Foundation Board, chaired their Innovation Committee and served on the MaHIMA legislative affairs committee. She has been the recipient of AHIMA’s Outstanding Achievement Award. Karen has written numerous HIS articles and presented at annual forums such as HIMSS and AHIMA. She also led a consulting engagement for Partners International in Doha, Qatar. Prior to Partners, Karen managed the HIS Department at Brigham and Women’s Hospital for 6 years. She also spent 5 years at Kaiser Foundation Hospital as the Director of Health Information Management – Utilization Management in San Diego, California. Karen holds a B.S. in Medical Record Administration from Colby-Sawyer College and is a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) and is certified in healthcare privacy (CHP).
Christy Matheson, RHIA, CCS – Vice President of Coding
Ms. Matheson has been active in the healthcare industry for more than 19 years and currently serves as Vice President of Coding for Medical Record Associates, LLC where she oversees the operations of the Coding business line. Her previous positions have included Director of Coding, Ardent Health Services and Coding Manager for Saint Francis Health System. She has extensive background and experience in Coding and HIM Operations, ICD-9-CM, ICD-10-CM /PCS and CPT coding, auditing, data analysis, reporting, training and education. Ms. Matheson holds a BS Degree in Health Information Administration from Southwestern Oklahoma State University, and is a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA). She is a member of the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) and the Oklahoma Health Information Management Association (OKHIMA). She is also an AHIMA approved ICD-10-CM/PCS Trainer.
Cathie Wilde, RHIA, CCS – Director of Coding Services
Ms. Wilde has been active in the healthcare industry for more than 30 years. Her previous positions have included Assistant Director of HIM, DRG Coordinator at Massachusetts Hospital Association and DRG Validator at Blue Cross/Blue Shield. She has extensive experience in ICD-9-CM and CPT coding, auditing, data analysis, development and testing of coding products, specialized reporting and in-service training. As Director she is responsible for overseeing the Coding division providing the strategic direction of MRA as a local industry leader of quality coding, auditing and denial management services. A graduate of Boston College, she received her HIM certificate from Northeastern University and is a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) as well as a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS). In addition to being a member of both the American and Massachusetts Health Information Management Associations, Ms. Wilde is an AHIMA-approved ICD-10-CM/PCS Trainer.
Terry Conway – Vice President of Operations
In her role as Vice President of Operations, Terry is responsible for overseeing the coordination of all accounts receivable and payroll processing. Her 25 years of leadership includes managing financial services operations, contracts and ROI account management with a focus on systems enhancement and operational productivity that improve client satisfaction. With more than 25 years of experience in Release of Information, she is proficient in federal and state laws regarding ROI and HIPAA compliance. Prior to joining MRA, Terry was employed at Newton Wellesley Hospital.
Laureen A. Rimmer, RHIA, CPHQ, CHC
Laureen Rimmer has over 30 years’ experience in the Health Information services industry and currently serves as Vice President of HIM Department Outsourcing for MRA Health Information Services. Prior to joining MRA, Laureen worked for a national healthcare consulting firm with responsibility as Director of coding, accreditation, and clinical services service line inclusive of consultative support to healthcare organizations ranging in size from less than 100-bed community-based hospitals to large academic medical centers, over 800 beds, with extensive inpatient and outpatient services. Laureen previous experience includes serving as Director of Health Information Management at prestigious health systems such as The Medical Center at Princeton, New Jersey, and St. Francis Medical Center in Trenton, New Jersey. Her teaching credentials include serving as Adjunct Professor at Keane University providing instruction to students in the health information management baccalaureate degree program. Laureen earned a B.S. in Health Record Administration Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts. Her certifications include Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) American Health Information Management Association Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) National Association for Healthcare Quality Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) Health Care Compliance Association.
